COLORADO SENIOR LOBBY:
Shaping a Better Future for Colorado’s Older Adults
ARE SENIORS ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK?
Budget-cutting is daily news out of Washington. If Meals on Wheels isn’t safe from the fiscal axe, can Medicare be far behind? How will states with growing senior populations respond as needs rise?
Every Tuesday and Thursday during the legislative session, Colorado Senior Lobbyadvocates gather at the State Capitol to urge legislators to support bills benefiting seniors and to oppose those that could cause harm. What are the issues? Transportation. Housing. Health Care. Consumer Fraud. And so much more…all as viewed through a senior lens.
On Wednesday, March 29, Steve Grund, Policy Chair for the Colorado Commission on Aging, and editor of “The Senior Space” policy newsletter will educate (and entertain!) Advocacy Academy attendees on senior issues and how to advocate. Steve will provide background about key issues affecting Colorado’s seniors and cover some of the fundamentals of lobbying. (Starting with this: “Lobbying is not a bad word!”)
The Advocacy Academy is free. Refreshments served. Free parking at Daniels Fund lot just of 1st Ave. at Madison. Register here: http://blcih.org/events/?ee=204
