TRAINING FOR BOOMERS LEADING CHANGE VOLUNTEERS AND EXPERIENCED ENGAGED FELLOWS ONLY!
This class will provide you with an overview of the skills you will need as a volunteer to impact underserved populations, addressing health care access, issues of healthy living and literacy. As a health navigator you will be equipped to help individuals and families overcome barriers and connect to vital resources.
Class dates: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday – November 20th, 21st and 22nd, 2019
Time: 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Location on Friday November 22 Dahlia Campus for Health and Wellness, Mental Health Center of Denver 3401 Eudora St Denver, CO 80207 Room 104
It is highly recommended and very beneficial to complete Modules 1,2 and 4 prior to training but is not a requirement.
This 3 day course will help you build the skills you need to be a more confident, informed, and empowered healthcare consumer as well as volunteer contributor toward enhancing healthy living.

- History & Overview of the role of health navigator
- Healthcare topics:
- Healthcare Law and Ethics (including HIPAA rules)
- Coverage: Medicare/Medicaid
- Resource/Benefit overview & navigation
- Healthcare Team Communications
You must have attended a Boomers Leading Change information session and orientation session. You must be placed in a health navigator volunteer position through Boomers Leading Change at one of our host sites or accepted into the AmeriCorps program.
Boomers Leading Change will provide water and snacks. There will be a half-hour break for lunch. You can bring your “brown bag” meal to eat at the site.
You will receive an invitation letter at least one week before class begins with details and pre-work.
