Last spring Boomers Leading Change hosted a participatory reading from Edgar Lee Masters’ Spoon River Anthology, a collection of short free verse poems that narrates the epitaphs of the residents of the fictional Illinois town of Spoon River. Our first reading was sublime! We discovered there are many thespians out there who just love to dabble in drama.
This rendition will pair poems between husbands and wives, lovers and friends reading in complement.
We will send you some character choices in advance, along with some great cemetery Zoom backgrounds to use as you choose. Indulge your penchant for the stories of passion, unrequited love, bitter betrayal, and old-fashioned devotion. BLC is sending out a casting call! We are looking for folks to join us in a recorded reading of Spoon River Anthology. So, sign up to be a part of our all-star cast! Come in costume – or not! When you register, you will receive the character list and cemetery list.
A Zoom link will be sent a day before the event to all registrants.
